The children of Hawai`i are fortunate to grow up enriched by a diversity of traditions. Exposure to the stories, music, or language from multiple ethnic backgrounds makes every day a cultural rainbow for these lucky youngsters. One of the most vivid colors in that rainbow comes from the hula.
The most prestigious hula competition for children is the QUEEN LILI`UOKALANI KEIKI HULA COMPETITION. Both girls and boys take part in this annual event, now in its 27th year. This very special video contains highlights from all three nights of competition. Enjoy the kahiko (ancient) competition; the colorful `auana (modern) style; and highlights of the Miss and Master Keiki Hula soloist competitions.
