In March 1997, Kamehameha Schools celebrated the 75th anniversary of its annual song contest. For three-quarters of a century, Hawaiian students have blended their voices in harmony and good-natured competition, vying for coveted trophies that signified the finest in Hawaiian choral singing. This was a landmark year and a very appropriate time to debut a collection of Traditional Kamehameha music -- some released for the first time since their recording years ago.

NA MELE HO`OHENO features well-known Hawaiian favorites, classic Hawaiian hymns, and traditional Kamehameha Schools Founder's Day songs.

This double-CD album presents the wonderful voices of the Kamehameha Schools choral groups. The liner notes are extensive, and contain lyrics. A "must have" -- especially for Kamehameha Schools' students, alumni, and their families.
