Album Notes

Hawaiians have a rich legacy of group singing, dating back to pre-contact times. Hawaii's most famous glee club, founded in 1954 by graduates of the Kamehameha School for Boys, inherits this tradition. THROUGH THE YEARS is a collection of songs taken from three of the Club's earlier recordings -- made in 1957, 1964, and 1972.

With their special blend of 4-part a cappella renderings as a foundation, the men made an easy transition to singing with musical accompaniment -- from bamboo pipes, to Hawaiian string ensemble, to full orchestral accompaniment.
