Jerry Byrd was a steel guitar virtuoso who excelled in every genre of music -- country, western, classical, jazz, sacred, and above all, Hawaiian. When he moved to Hawai`i, he soon became the leader of the rebirth of the steel guitar in Hawai`i, as the instructor for a new generation of island residents who learned to play from him.

Jerry was a master of his instrument, but never used a pedal when he played the steel guitar, as he preferred to let his strings sing with their own voice.

This compilation album celebrates the artistry of Jerry Byrd -- the Master of the Steel Guitar -- through a variety of his most memorable solo recordings on the Monument Record label.
