Album Notes

Hawaii's shining star, `ukulele virtuoso Jake Shimabukuro takes you on a personal journey through his "Rainbow Tour 2004".

Traveling from the serenity of a sandy Hawaiian beach to the buzz of Tokyo, Japan, MILLION MILES AWAY slices between sound checks, backstage preparations, and captivating performances. Filmed in a "home video" style with contrasting black and white footage, this DVD reveals what Jake's touring experience is all about: the MUSIC and the FANS.

Jake's famed ingenuity for innovation reaches new heights in his majestic collaboration with Japan's "Devil's Strings Quartet". Reformatting his original songs for this classical performance, the rich, melodic sound resonates gracefully on "Heartbeat" and "Rainbow".

Jake is at his best in the candle-lit setting of the Beach House. Feeding off the energy and close audience interaction, Jake displays his showmanship with electrifying performances of "Crosscurrent" and crowd-favorite "Crazy G". Also performing an untitled new song, Jake explains his songwriting process, where he "sings the lyrics" on the `ukulele.

Returning to the peacefulness of the caressing ocean tide, "Tradewinds" blow gently into the twilight of a beautiful Hawaiian sunset.
