Album Notes

This was the debut recording for The Sons of Hawai`i -- who went on to release many more albums, filled with traditional Hawaiian songs. The Sons were born when `ukulele master Eddie Kamae visited his friend, Gabby Pahinui, at his Waimanalo home. Although Pahinui was sick at the time, he had the strength to play his guitar. Bassist Joe Marshall and steel guitarist David "Feet" Rogers eventually joined, and the Sons recorded this first album. At the time, Eddie Kamae was under contract to another record label, and therefore was listed on this album's liner notes as "Johnny Maunawili".
