Album NotesAt age 96, Bill Tapia has decided to release his first solo recording!Born January 1st, 1908 on the island of O`ahu, Bill has forged a style for `ukulele and guitar that helped pioneer the tastefully melodic Hawaiian jazz sound. He has stories to tell of an amazing musical odyssey, playing with legends like Louis Armstrong, Bing Crosby, Billy Holiday and Sol Ho`opi`i. He is joined with a group of young musicians known as The Essential Resophonics, whose combination of steel guitar, double bass, Spanish guitar and `ukulele covers some of Tapia's favorite standards in their respective genre. |
