Album Notes

The island of Rapanui is known in the Western world as Easter Island or Isla de Pascua. The Polynesian inhabitants of the island prefer the name Rapanui or Te Pito O Te Henua which is often translated as "Navel of the Earth" or "Center of the World". Providing and translating titles of Rapanui songs is not easy -- the titles are sometimes remembered with some vagueness by the people. Correct titles of older song types are often not known among the singers, or have so much meaning packed into the words that an accurate and clear translation is not possible.
