- Each basic step is taught with music, which conditions the dancers to feel the rhythm from the very beginning.
- Each lesson progresses from simple movements, to those of increased difficulty and speed.
- Each song is taught by one phrase or verse at a time. The first time through, the music and dance is slowed down for learning. Then the second time through will be the performance speed.
- "Mirror-image" is used. The instructor has designed the movements in reverse allowing the dancer to follow each lesson in a mirror-like fashion.
