To determine "the 50 Greatest Songs of Hawai`i", Honolulu Magazine assembled a panel of 35 Hawaiian music experts in 2007....including musicians, producers, historians, promoters, radio DJs and programming directors, university professors, music retailers and more. Each was invited to share a ranked list of the songs which they felt represented the best in Hawai`i music. The results were tabulated, taking into account how many votes a song received, and how highly ranked it was on each panelist's list. The songs they named, spanned the generations...from the time of the monarchy, to present day.
