At the age of 18, Kawaikapuokalani Frank Hewett wrote his very first mele and presented it to his grandmother. She told him that because he had chosen to honor Ke Akua with the song ("Aloha `Oe E Ke Akua"), throughout his life he would be blessed by Ke Akua. All of the songs on this CD were composed by him -- and many of them have been recorded by musicians in Hawai`i.
