KAMEHAMEHA SCHOOLS 2007 SONG CONTEST (the 87th annual) celebrates the stories and songs of Mary Kawena Pukui, a Hawaiian icon whose contributions have been so foundational that a world without her legacy is simply unimaginable. She helped set the stage for the 1970s Hawaiian Renaissance, and is perhaps the single most influential Hawaiian of the 20th century.

On this DVD you'll enjoy the sweet sounds of Hawaiian a cappella choral music over and over again, and the melodies will linger in your heart forever.

Today, 1,800 students in grades 9-12 participate in the Song Contest with support from numerous parents, faculty members and production staff. In one amazing evening, months of daily, dedicated practice and striving for perfection comes to fruition in this musical embodiment of Hawaiian language, culture and dance.
