Kahauanu Lake has been a constant figure on the Hawaiian music scene -- musician, composer, historian and leader (1955-1984) of the Kahauanu Lake Trio. Respected by his peers and revered by a younger generation, "Uncle K", with his sophisticated style of music was a frontrunner in Hawaiian music during the Statehood Years (1950s and 1960s) and a forefather of the music of the Hawaiian Renaissance of the 1970s and 1980s.
