Album Notes

Holunape presents AHEA? `ANO! -- their much-anticipated second release.

Kama Hopkins, Kekoa Kaluhiwa and Kanai`a Nakamura take pride in perpetuating the beautiful compositions that have come before them, yet recognize the importance of composing new mele. This new release is the perfect representation of what Holunape has grown to be -– performing a blend of classic melodies, as well as hapa haole tunes.

Nakamura offers his first recorded composition titled "Pakalana Ke Aloha". Hopkins follows with his own work, "‘Ano" -- a mischievous comeback to a song written by his great-grand uncle Clarence Kinney called "Ahea". Together, this medley of songs serves as the title track of this album. The trio closes with a foot stomping rendition of "Operator", a tune made popular by the Manhattan Transfer.

Guest musicians include Jeff Au Hoy on steel guitar and piano, and Ryan Gonzalez on lead guitar. Listeners will appreciate the trio's instrumental versatility, gentle harmonies, and strong voices.

Ahea No Ho`i La? `Ano! The time is definitely now, to join Holunape as they remember the past which has, in turn, inspired them to create for the future.
