Album Notes

Born in Nebraska, raised in Montana, Harry Owens arrived in Honolulu to accept the position of musical director at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel in 1934. In 1935 he teamed with Webley Edwards to begin worldwide broadcasts of the weekly "Hawai`i Calls" radio show. Harry wrote the now-classic song "Sweet Leilani" for the birth of his first child, a daughter, in Honolulu in 1934.
