Album Notes(from original vinyl album's liner notes):
Harry Kalahiki, affectionately known as "Mungo", is unique among ukulele players in that his taste veers to the classic and semi classic.
In this album he runs the gamut from Kabalevsky's Galop to September Song, with a bit of Dixieland, Latin-American and Jazz thrown in, providing that ukulele has come of age as a lead instrument. Mungo discards the idea that ukulele is just an instrument for accompaniment and the results are pleasing to the ear and somewhat surprising. His skill in combining simple melody with a variety of intricate chords is indeed unusual.
He plays instinctively (by ear), having never had formal musical training, and like most island boys, cannot even remember the day when he began strumming the uke. He also is a very fine guitarist as well as an accomplished bass man. Deft fingers, a keen ear, a natural musician.
