While in high school, Hailama met Papa Sol and gained a close relationship with him until his passing in 1992. It was Hailama's mission to learn "Hawaiian Cowboy" ever since he saw Papa Sol perform it while they traveled together with Kamehameha School to Australia in 1988. Before Papa Sol's passing, he learned of Hailama's ambitions to perform his composition and one day (over the phone) told Hailama, "I give you this song and when I'm gone you keep my memory alive."

So with this release of two of Papa Sol's most popular compositions, "Hawaiian Cowboy" and "Sophisticated Hula" (including the Japanese lyrics as performed by Papa Sol himself), along with sing-a-long karaoke tracks of each song, in memory of Uncle Sol K. Bright.
