Album Notes

In the early 1960s, Kaua`i native Duke Kaleiolani Ching was living on O`ahu -- and was hired by a singer named Don Ho to fill-in at a gig. The band also included a guitarist named Gabby Pahinui. That "fill-in" gig lasted for several years, until Duke joined the Armed Forces.

Now retired from the military, Duke lives in southern California, is an active member of the Hawaiian Steel Guitar Association, and -- as you will hear on this recording -- hasn't lost his touch!
